Privacy notice

The short version

Bubbles has no account, no profile of you and no database of users. What you write stays on your device unless you share a bubble, and what you share is encrypted before it leaves. We can’t read it.

Responsible for what does reach us is SRVenkata. SRVenkata is the trading name of Srini Rentala Venkata, a sole trader, so you’re dealing directly with Srini Rentala Venkata, not a company.

What’s on your device

Everything you write, the bubbles you have, your settings and this device’s identity. Your browser keeps it on this device, and it isn’t sent to us. Cookies and local storage lists every item, and Your data explains taking a copy and erasing.

When you share a bubble

Shared changes are encrypted on your device and held by our relay, so people who were offline can catch up. The keys never reach our server, so we can’t read them. The relay does see your IP address, when a bubble is active and how big its changes are.

An invite link lets someone ask to join. They see the bubble’s name and who is in it, and nothing else, until you let them in; only then does their device get the key to what is inside. If you remove someone, what is added after that is locked with a new key they don’t have. What they already saw stays with them.

It keeps them for up to 45 days after the last update to a bubble, then deletes them. More on Your data.

The site and the relay run on a server rented by the operator, who is the only person with access to it.

When you tell us something

The question mark on any screen writes a report: your words, the screen you were on (its address without the part after the #), the time, the version, and counts of what was on screen. Counts, never contents: “14 entries”, not their titles.

You see the whole report first, and you send it yourself from your mail app, or copy it. Nothing is sent in the background. If you send it, we have your email address and what you wrote, and we keep it only while the problem is open.

What we don’t do

• No ads, analytics, tracking or profiling.
• We don’t sell or share your data.
• No location, contacts, microphone or camera unless you use a control that asks.
• We can’t read your bubbles.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and complain to a regulator. Taking a copy and erasing are both buttons in Bubbles.

If you’ve sent us a message, ask and we’ll delete it. In the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EU, to your national authority.
